Best viewed large is this 9 by 6 inch slab of ancient columnar fossil life. Zoom into finger-like (digitate) texture whether in this Gunflint Iron Formation from northwest Ontario or the Mesabi Iron Range in central Minnesota (link below)


Highly polished fossil specimens are available from the Rox Rock Shop in Westport ON. The shop owner traveled to the opposite side of Ontario to collect orange Mary Ellen (stromatolite) jasper northwest of Lake Superior.
