The location here is a bit of a mystery. The Seattle, Lakeshore & Eastern terminal was in Smith Cove (see File:Anderson's 1890 map - 'North Seattle' to Smith Cove.jpg, detail from an 1890 map) and therefore was roughly a mile away from the fire. This seems to be a denser area, closer to other significant structures. It does not, offhand, look like the Columbia or Ocean Docks of the Oregon Improvement Company (successor to the Seattle & Walla Walla); see File:Seattle, to southwest from roof of Occidental Hotel at Yesler Way and James St (CURTIS 1072).jpeg).
