English: Built in 1870, this Italianate-style bank building was constructed to house the First National Bank of Newark, Ohio. The three-story building features a limestone facade with a raised basement, bracketed cornice, arched parapet at the chamfered corner of the building, arched one-over-one double-hung windows, an entry door on the chamfered corner with an iron stoop, arched transom, wrought iron canopy, double entry door, trim surround with a carved stone relief of a face above the archway, and plaques mounted on either side, rustication at the corners of the building, corinthian pilasters between the window bays, the words “First National Bank” emblazoned on the facade above the first floor windows, an inoperable clock face on the arched parapet, a moat around the base of the building surrounded by a wrought iron railing, and an antique vault alarm mounted on the westernmost bay of the building above the first floor window. The building is presently home to a law office, and is a contributing structure in the Newark Downtown Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.
