English: Located right in front of Delhi University's main gate, the flag staff tower has nothing of the 'regalia' you'd expect from the British on their side of Delhi. During the First war of Independence of 1857, this is where the survivors, mostly wives and children of the soldiers, hid before they fled to Karnal on 11 May. This basically was also the last stand of the mutiny forces against the British, after which they were defeated. More or less a 'derelict' now, I have heard the headless soldier on a horse and the white frock girl story one time too many, although the area is a spook fest at night, especially with the millions of monkeys around. There are also some graves reported around the structure, but I could not locate any. The shape is 'circularly' octagonal with Gothic undertones.
