Navy Misawa sailors load Meals Ready to Eat onboard an MH-53E helicopter, from Helicopter Countermeasures Squadron 14. HM-14 personnel are conducting humanitarian assistance missions in Japan following a 9.0-magnitude earthquake that triggered a devastating tsunami along Japan's eastern coastline. HM-14 is currently operating onboard USS Tortuga in support of Operation Tomodachi. Operation Tomodachi (Japanese for “friendship”) involves 14 U.S. Navy ships, more than 100 aircraft and thousands of U.S. service members assisting with disaster relief and humanitarian development assistance.
