December 9, 2010. The Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, meets with the 13th ruond of recruits from the Kibbutz Movements and the "Bnei Hamoshavim" Youth Movement at the end of four-day-long bike trip which occurrs annually in Hannukah. During the meeting, Lt. Gen. Ashkenazi was presented with the high rates of enlistment boasted by this year's round: 80% of boys enlisted, and 70% of girls. The Chief of Staff talked about the importance of military service and encouraged the youth to strive for excellence in any position they reach, as well as to fight the current trend of evading service. אתמול (ד') נפגש הרמטכ"ל, רב אלוף גבי אשכנזי עם מחזור גיוס י"ג של התנועה הקיבוצית ובני המושבים בסיום מסע אופניים בן ארבעה ימים המתקיים מדי שנה בחג החנוכה. במהלך המפגש, הוצגו לרמטכ"ל נתוני הגיוס הגבוהים של המחזור הנוכחי: שיעור הגיוס לגברים נאמד בכ-80%, ובקרב נשים כ-70%. בדבריו התייחס הרמטכ"ל לחשיבות השירות המשמעותי בצה"ל וקרא לבני הנוער לשאוף למצוינות בכל תפקיד בו יבחרו ולהלחם בתופעת ההשתמטות. |
