Description SOUTH CHINA SEA (Oct. 16, 2012) The Military Sealift Command dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Richard E. Byrd (T-AKE-4), bottom, performs a replenishment at sea with the amphibious dock landing ship USS Tortuga (LSD 46). Tortuga is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility. The U.S. Navy is constantly deployed to preserve peace, protect commerce, and deter aggression through forward presence.
