Summary edit

Description

Noticed the sporadic sagebrush and a little later we found some Pediocactus simpsonii (Football cactus)

We can see that the grassland is occasionally broken up by segment of basalt talus rock. Wondered why this occurred?

listorama and I went for a morning hike among the giant ripples of the West Bar - which were formed as part Ice Age Floods when Glacial Lake Missoula let go about 12,000 years ago.

Thanks to listorama getting me me out there (relatively safely) on a remarkable 2 day trip to explore some geology.
