In commemoration of nine aviation pioneers of the canton of Solothurn: Theodor Borrer, Werner Bodmer, Alexander Frei, Paul Ziegler (names on the left side of the pedestal, visible in this photo); Gottfried Gueniat, Eugen Bouché, Max Cartier, Ernst Gerber, and Adolf Schädler (names on the right side, not visible in this photo).
