| Description |
English: Flood barrier on River Eye. Although the pretty little Eye hardly warrants the title of 'river' most of the year, high winter flow contributed to severe flooding of Melton Mowbray in the late 90s. This barrier, funded by the Environment Agency, and completed in 2003, occasionally holds back water by deliberately flooding upstream riparian meadows, enhancing their SSSI value. |
