Los dos y únicos satélites naturales de Marte comparados con la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires. Se suponen asteroides formados en las cercanías del planeta rojo y luego atrapados por él mismo por su atracción gravitatoria.

FOBOS, del griego “fobia”.

Dimensiones: 26,8 × 21 × 18,4 kms. Período orbital sideral: 7 hs. 39,2 mins. Radio orbital medio: 9.377,2 kms.

DEIMOS, del griego “terror”.

Dimensiones: 15 × 12 × 10,4 kms. Período orbital sideral: 1,262 días.

Radio orbital medio: 23.460 kms.
