Summary edit

Description
English: Footpath, Calvert Landfill Site. This view looking south-west shows, to the right of centre of the photo, the footpath that leads off the bridleway between Calvert and Greatmoor behind the camera, and crosses Calvert Landfill Site, see 439660. It is the only footpath that crosses the site. In the foreground the path is bisected by one of the many roads used by the trucks that bring waste to the clay pits that are used for landfill, see 500144. This path joins another that runs along the edge of the site, and which goes to Edgcott just under 2km away. The short line of trees has obviously survived both the extraction of clay and the subsequently the landfill site, and may be a remnant of the former Chardon Wood that is marked on the OS 1940s map and through which this footpath once ran. The land to the right of the footpath was formerly part of the landfill site but has been restored and is now farmland.
