Description
English: A Force Reconnaissance Marine, with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force South, places his M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System into a U.S. Navy MH-60S as he prepares to conduct a helicopter visit, board, search and seizure drill aboard the future amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), July 26, 2014. The drill simulates a two helicopter operation, with Marines fast roping down from one helicopter while a different Marine with a SASS provides cover from a second helicopter. America is operating in the U.S. Southern Command and U.S. 4th Fleet area of responsibility around South America. America is the first of the America-class amphibious assault ships, which represents the Navy-Marine Corps' emphasis on increasing the aviation capacity of future big-deck amphibious assault ships. The ship is scheduled to be commissioned in San Francisco, Oct. 11. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Christopher J. Moore/Released)
