DescriptionForeground, Background, Backdrop.jpg |
English: This image features a veritable panoply of telescopes, situated at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (CTIO), a Program of NSF's NOIRLab. In the foreground stands the Thai Southern Hemisphere Telescope, which forms part of Thai Robotic Telescope Network (TRTN) of The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT). Five of the seven Panchromatic Robotic Optical Monitoring and Polarimetry Telescopes (PROMPT) are clustered in the background. However, you would be forgiven for overlooking the telescopes, given the truly extraordinary backdrop in this image— the Milky Way galaxy.
