Description
English: Looking southeast at the former entrance for the FBI Tour on the E Street NW side of the J. Edgar Hoover Building (the headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Investigation) in Washington, D.C., in the United States. This entrance is on the north side of the building, near the northeast corner. The office building, constructed in the Brutalist style, began construction in 1967 and was completed in 1975.

In order to build public support for the FBI, the structure was built with an entrance, elevators, and corridors accessible only by the public. So that terrorists could not enter the FBI building, these areas were sealed off from the parts of the building where FBI agents and technicians worked (although in some corridors, the public could view FBI employees at work in laboratories, firing ranges, and similar areas).

The FBI Tour was suspended indefinitely after the September 11, 2001, attacks. A security barrier (visible as the dark brown metal structure to the left) was installed to block off the ramp where the public used to access the tour.
