Description |
English: Three sets of red double doors are spaced across the front of a long, two-story wooden building within a fort. Fort Vancouver. The fur warehouse was reconstructed in 1992-1994, based on the original warehouse built in 1841. It is the largest reconstructed building in the fort stockade and represents one of the four similar general warehouses constructed at Fort Vancouver. The two-story building is post-on-still construction, with a hip roof covered in shingles. The reconstruction of the Fort was based on work by NPS archeologists, historians, and historical architects. The organization of the buildings and landscape features helps to convey the historic use and significance of the fort. Fort Vancouver was a major hub of the Hudson's Bay Company business operations due to its position along the Columbia River.
