DescriptionFossicking for fossils in Tyndall Limestone.jpg |
The following is the author's description of the photograph quoted directly from the photograph's Flickr page. "definition: fossicking for fossils in Tyndall Limestone. The distinctive mottled limestone is Canada's finest building stone, still being quarried a century later. Its decorative facade is prevalent throughout North America and some went overseas. Thus, the legislative / parliament buildings of Winnipeg, Regina and Ottawa contain abundant Ordovician fossils. If a stone building in your town has a grey- or tan-coloured, two-toned, mottled texture, it's probably limestone from Manitoba and you should try 'tyndall-ing'. Quarry nearest Garson Manitoba is geotagged. " |
