English: A quick look at Free BMD & 1881 census shows Morton Meacher Glover to have been born in Chesham in 1845 , Married in Lambeth in 1878 and died in St Albans in 1894 at age 49. He was living at Addiscombe Lodge, 1 Harpenden Road St Albans as a widower in 1881 with his mother-in-law and daughter. No other buildings are listed in Pevsner, save this riot of decorative brick and stonework.
From this reference I learn that the Rev Landels was a Scotsman,born in Tweedmouth in 1823, who had taken his degree in the USA and previously ministered to the congretation at the Circus Chapel in Birmingham, then the Regents Park Chapel in London. He was living in 135 King Henrys Road, Hampstead in 1881, suggesting he was never the minister here. |
