DescriptionFrati "Cornettino" Fair Organ Model 65 (1880) - 96 pipes, 43 notes, 5 stops, play ten tunes from pinned wooden barrel - Music House Museum.jpg |
Frati "Cornettino" Barrel Organ (from the sign on the museum's unit) Model #65 was made in Berlin about 1880. 96 Pipes, 43 notes, 5 stops play ten tunes from a pinned wooden barrel. Across the front are 15 brass cornets and 14 piccolos. Cabinet pipes include 18 strings, 27 stopped flutes, 14 melody flutes, 5 bourdons and 3 bass reeds. Medals on the facade are from King Leopold II of Belgium - 1879, Gorlitz Exposition-1885, Crystal Palace London Exposition-1884 and from Wihelm III, King of Netherlands. In the late 1800's, it was owned by John Deuster of Suttons Bay, Michigan who used it to supply music for the carousel at the village fair until 1910 when it was damaged and retired to a barn. Restoration was completed by the Music House in 1997. From their website in July 2014: Originally discovered in a barn in Suttons Bay by the Museum’s founder in 1985, this piece of Suttons Bay history provided music for the carousel from 1890 to 1910 at the Suttons Bay Fair Grounds. It was physically restored and added to the museum's self-guided area in 1997 but was recently restored to a playable condition in order to add a bit of local history to the collection. |
