Description

Frederick Ernest Appleyard CB (6 June 1829 – 4 April 1911). He was a British Army commander who served in numerous Victorian Era military campaigns including the Crimean War and the Second Anglo-Afghan War. Appleyard is seated in the middle, in the picture.

This photograph was owned by Edward VII. The original title was: General Sir Samuel Browne and staff, Pesahawar Valley Field Force 1878-9
