English: Friends' Burial Ground (Wester Gartshore) This is the entrance to a little known Quaker Burial Ground on the Wester Gartshore Estate.
Records show the Grays as farmers in the neighbourhood of Kirkintilloch and the names of these farms - Wester Muckroft, Bedcow, Gartshore and Auchengeich -are still found today. This burial ground is the final resting place of many of the old Grays who were Quakers and owned these farms. There are about 6 or 8 headstones, most of which are lying flat under long grass and leaf-litter. |
