Frustrated total internal reflection in an air gap

Description	English: Fields in frustrated total internal reﬂection. Incident angle exceeds the critical angle and at the first interface light experiences total internal reflection. Evanecent wave can pass the air gap resulting in propagating wave in substrate. TM-polarization: Tangential and normal component of the ﬁelds are offset for clarity. TE-polarization: Feld has only the tangential component. Note that the tangential ﬁelds are continuous and normal ﬁeld has a discontinuity. This is inline with the boundary conditions.<\br> Parameters: Refractive indices: n_incident=1.45; n_gap=1; n_substrate=1.45; Gap=500 nm; Wavelength=632 nm; Angle of incidence=45.0 deg.; Critical angle=43.6 deg.; Model and animation was generated with Matlab.
