Summary edit

Description
Español: Tomada en pleno centro histórico.

English: The Mercury Fountain is located in Plaza de San Francisco, directly in front of the Banco de Espana. This is a small fountain with a statue of the god Mercury at the top. The fountain itself is a reconstruction, and quite new: from 1974 (the original was completely deteriorated). The statue of Mercury however is the one of interest. It is from the 16th century, and sculpted by Bartolomé Morel (1504-1579), a Spanish Renaissance master gunner and metal smelter who also did the Giraldillo (the one on top of the Giralda tower), and other important works in Seville .
