Description
English: Ga Hiti in Thamel of Kathmandu i.e. Newari language Ga: Khaldo, Hiti is a stone fountain. Due to this, the toll of Thamel is called Gahhiti toll. There are 5 stone fountains in this area. Water comes in all the stone fountains except one stone fountain. Especially in the morning, it is crowded with locals. Bathing, filling water, washing clothes etc. There are idols of various deities in the center of this hiti and there are also idols of gods and goddesses on the wall of hiti. There is also an inscription from the Lichhavi period. According to a local who owns a house near Dhungedhara, this is a Lichhavi-era interest, as evidenced by the inscription on the interest. I am 81 years old and many of my generation have used this water well and I am doing it. If you don't like to drink other water after getting into the habit of drinking Hiti water.

Hiti has a very artistic style, a very wide area, benches have been set up in various places to relax in that hiti and the hiti is surrounded by walls on all sides. This hiti is also very clean and tidy.

Thamel Ga Hiti was renovated by the Department of Heritage and Tourism of Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Ward No. 29 with the financial assistance of the Japanese Embassy, technical assistance from UNESCO, local people's participation.
