Summary

Description
English: Gala Water. A steep scramble down a brambly slope from the A7 was required to get into the square. The view to the S is the river, a big tributary of the Tweed, and a mix of small wood and farmland on the Selkirkshire side of the river. Ideal pheasant and partridge rearing country, and there was a shoot in operation to the north. The foreground is a very muddy ploughed field. Out of sight is the trackbed of the Waverley line.
