Description
English: The image depicts magnetic field of the Jovian satellite Ganymede embedded into the magnetosphere of Jupiter. The image is based on the reported Galileo measurements.[1][2] The green color denotes closed field lines. The model used for this work is a superposition of the background Jovian field (120 nT) and the intrinsic field (720 nT at the equator). The angle between the background field and the moment is 45°.
Italiano: L'immagine descrive il campo magnetico del satellite di Giove, Ganimede, incluso nella magnetosfera di Giove. L'immagine è stata costruita in base alle misurazioni eseguite con la sonda Galileo.[1][2]Le linee di campo chiuse sono indicate in verde. Il modello utilizzato per questo lavoro è una sovrapposizione del campo magnetico intrinseco del satellite (270 nT all'equatore) e del campo magnetico di Giove (120 nT), di sfondo. L'angolo tra il campo sullo sfondo ed il momento magnetico è di 45°.
