Photos taken during a quick wander around the back garden. Top left to bottom right:- Rhingia campestris, Platycheirus manicatus, Platycheirus peltatus, Melanostoma scalare, Portevinia maculata, Epistrophe eligans. Most abundant hoverfly was Rhingia campestris followed by Platycheirus sp. manicatus & peltatus. Then 2 Melanostoma scalare and 1 each of Portevinia maculata and Epistrophe eligans. Most popular flowers with the hovers were Pulmonaria, Brunnera, Cow Parsley, Bluebells and Euphorbia "Fireglow" |
