My first stop was in Mumbai so I decided to do some sightseeing. I wanted to visit Elephanta Island just offshore of Mumbai -- the site of ancient Hindu and Buddhist cave carvings. Excursion boats to Elephanta depart right below the Gate of India. The Gateway of India was buile in 1911 to celebrate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to India. |
