English: Air Commodore G.J. (Gavin) Howse of the New Zealand Defence Force, cropped from photo: "040403-M-8683D-008 Members of the official party attend a ceremony commemorating the reopening of the University, located in Bamian Afghanistan, during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. The ceremony is the result of more than a year of re-construction, with funding of almost $600,000 from the United States and New Zealand. Pictured left-to-right are: US Army (USA) Colonel (COL) Anthony Cucolo, Deputy Commander, Combined Joint Task Force-180; Zealand Defense Force Group Captain Gavin Howse; Democratic Republic of Afghanistan Vice-President Mohammad Abdul Karim Khalili; and Dr. Mohammad Sharif Faiz, Democratic Republic of Afghanistan, Minister of Higher Education."
