DescriptionGeese near Gas Street Basin, Birmingham - geograph.org.uk - 1734080.jpg |
English: Geese near Gas Street Basin, Birmingham The canals in central Birmingham have been smartened up and developed in recent years in order to make them attractive to use, to live by and trade by. Plenty of ducks and geese receive rich pickings from the many people who pass by, or eat their lunch here. These Canada geese have decided I am a likely donor. I know these are considered pests in some areas, but they are very attractive birds.
Visitor moorings are good here, but arrive early, because when they're gone, it's not so easy to find a safe place to leave your boat while you explore the city. The basin behind the camera is where the Worcester and Birmingham Canal terminated when it was built in the early 1790s. Any images of this scene before the 1990s will be welcomed on this website. |
