Deutsch: Torhaus der Pfalz – Gelnhausen ist die Kreisstadt des Kreises Main-Kinzig oder auch Main-Kinzig-Kreis (MKK) und liegt im Südosten von Hessen. Die Gründung der Stadt geht auf Kaiser Friedrich I (Barbarossa) zurück. Der ließ hier Mitte des 12 Jhd. auf einer Insel in der Kinzig eine Kaiserpfalz bauen. Sie steht auf 12000 Eichenpfählen. Bei einem Reichstag 1180 wurde hier Heinrich der Löwe in Abwesenheit der Prozess gemacht und seine Länder neu aufgeteilt. Heute gehört die Pfalz zur Verwaltung der Staatlichen Schlösser und Gärten Hessen und kann besichtigt werden. |
