Description Brigadier-General William Wirt Adams, C.S.A. Commissioned as a colonel after organizing the 1st Mississippi Cavalry in June 1861. Promoted to brigadier general in September 1863. Major campaigns and battles include the Kentucky campaign, Shiloh, Corinth, and Vicksburg. After the war, Adams returned to Vicksburg, Mississippi.
