Summary edit
DescriptionGeorgenberg, Henry IV and Reginbert praying at the foot of Georgenberg ('Pergamentcodex' before 1704).jpg |
Holy Roman Emperor Henry IV. and Reginbert, Bishop of Brixen, praying at the foot of the Georgenberg. In the upper part, SS George, Benedict and James. Henry was an early donator to St. Georgenberg monastery (in 1097) which was turned into a benedictine abbey by Reginbert before or, at the latest, in 1138. So, the two never met in reality. As the 'parchment codex' also refers to an event of 1689, it was created later than that, but before 1704. It quite precisely depicts the monastery buildings of that period. |
