English: Reconstruction of a Sicherheitsdienst (SD) officer in German-occupied Norway during World War II. Mannequin in uniform.

  • Desk with Deutsche Zeitung in Norwegen newspaper, SS ceremonial dagger (SS-Ehrendolch), wartime telephones, office lamp, German handcuffs and brass knuckles (Norwegian: knokejern), "Manneken Pis" figurine, letters, Zeichenkohle, etc.
  • SS (Schutzstaffel) uniform
    • Visor cap (Schirmmütze) see [1]
      • German national emblem (Hoheitszeichen): Nazi style German imperial eagle with swastika,"cap eagle" (Reichsadler mit Hakenkreuz, Hoheitsadler, Mützenadler
      • SS skull-and-crossbones insignia (Totenkopf)
    • Uniform coat, field tunic with open collar, French cuffs (turned back) and external buttoned pockets (two breast patch pockets with pleats and scalloped pocket flaps; two lower slash pockets also with scalloped pocket flaps)
      • Black SS collar tabs/patches edged with silver/black twisted cord. Rank insignia of SS-Hauptscharführer on left collar tab. Right collar tab without insignia; SD members were distinguishable by the fact the right collar patches on all ranks below Standartenführer were blank and did not have the SS runes. (Members of the Sipo, the security police, i.e. Kripo and Gestapo, were also allowed to wear SS uniforms with blank collar patch etc. but without the SD diamond)
      • Hauptscharführer rank insignia on shoulder boards/straps (Schulterstücken, Schulterklappen); SD members had toxic green piping on their shoulder boards from 1942 onwards. Their shoulder boards were of the same design as the police.
      • SS style "sleeve eagle" (Ärmeladler)
      • SD (Sicherheitsdienst) sleeve diamond badge (Ärmelraute) on left under arm
      • War Merit Cross (Kriegsverdienstkreuz) ribbon in button hole
      • Sturmabteilung Sports Badge (SA-Sportabzeichen, mounted upside down on the left chest pocket))
      • Deutsches Reichssportabzeichen 1935–1944 (badge with wreathed letters DRL and a swastika, mounted upside down) (see [2])
    • Belt with box style buckle (Koppelschloss) adorned with the SS motto "Meine Ehre heißt Treue" ('Loyalty is my honour')
    • Brown leather pistol holster (Pistolentasche)
    • Riding breeches with extra width in the thigh area (Breecheshosen, Reit- bzw. Stiefelhosen)
    • Black knee-high jackboots (Schaftstiefeln)
    • German spring steel baton (club, stick, SiPo Stahlrute/Teleskopschlagstock, in Norwegian slang called Totenschläger) in right hand (see IWM's telescopic spring-cosh)
