Description |
English: This is a view of Germania Hall, located on the southeast corner of Second Avenue and Seneca Street in downtown Seattle. This building is no longer standing. The building to the right of Germania Hall is the original Plymouth Congregational Church, by this time known as Olympic Hall, whose entrance was on First Avenue. Olympic Hall was used at least from 1896-1912 for union meetings and by Mount Zion Baptist Church. Businesses in image: Germania Cafe and Grill Room, William Bloch, Prop.; Germania Hall; Tailor; Bazaar; Columbia Bicycles Signs in image: Diamond Ice Storage Co.; Independent Order of Odd Fellows (three link emblem) This photograph is part of an album titled "Views of Businesses and Buildings, Area: Pine to Madison, 4th to Western." It makes no sense to say that the entrance to Olympic Hall was on First Avenue, given that this is clearly the east side of Second Avenue. |
