Deutsch: Nach dem Ende der Personalunion zwischen Großbritannien und Hannover zog König Ernst August I. 1837 mit großem Gefolge in sein Königreich auf dem europäischen Kontinent ein; der hannoversche Stadtdirektor überreichte dem König symbolisch die Schlüssel der Residenzstadt Hannover. als Teil des halbplastischen Geschichts- oder auch "Bilderfrieses" am Neuen Rathaus in Hannover verewigte der Bildhauer August Waterbeck das Thema. Wilhelm Rothert benannte in seinem Werk Allgemeine Hannoversche Biographie, Band 2: Im Alten Königreich Hannover 1814–1866, Hannover: Adolf Sponholtz Verlag, 1914 unter der Abbildung auf Seite 128 teilweise die Namen der Dargestellten (von links nach rechts):
