Description
English: Remains of Joseph Tchaikov's sculptures from the Soviet pavilion at the 1937 exhibition in Paris. After the exhibition the pavilion was torn down, and the sculpture donated to pro-communst French trade union (Confédération générale du travail, CGT). The sculptures were placed in the CGT-owned castle near Baillet-en-France. Under the Vichy rule, the CGT property was closed and vandalized by pro-Vichy activists; the broken sculptures were dumped in the basement and forgotten for decades.
