Nederlands: Twee glazen medaillons ter herinnering aan het bezoek van koning Willem II aan Maastricht, 14 t/m 18 juni 1841. De medaillons zijn vervaardigd door de Franse broers Toussaint en Antoine Cartisser, die vanaf circa 1834 te Maastricht een glasatelier bezaten. De koning had dit atelier, gevestigd in de Poort van Beusdael in het stadsdeel Wyck, tijdens zijn bezoek aan Maastricht bezocht en bestelde later meerdere ramen bij de broers. De twee medaillons waren een geschenk. Ze bevatten gebrandschilderde afbeeldingen van de Maastrichtse stedenmaagd, poserend voor de met een ereboog versierde Sint Servaasbrug en daarachter de Sint-Maartenskerk van Wyck, en een portret en-profil van Willem II. Doorsnede: 29,5 cm; inclusief houten lijst: 36,5 cm. De voorwerpen bevinden zich in de collectie van de Stichting Historische Verzamelingen van het Huis Oranje-Nassau, inv.nr. MU/4973. |
