Description

Top-down and side views of the C. elegans glutamate-gated chloride channel receptor (GluClR), a pentameric ligand-gated ion channel, bound to ivermectin. Ivermectin (royal blue) interacts with a binding pocket formed by the transmembrane domains of adjacent GluClR subunits (pale blue), "locking" the receptor in an activated (open) conformation that allows unrestricted passage of chloride (Cl) ions into the cell.
