Afrikaans: Aangesien vroulike bidsprinkane nie kan vlieg nie, probeer hulle dikwels om aanvallers soos insekvretende voëls deur hul dreigende houding af te skrik. Deur hul vlerke teen mekaar te vryf word 'n sissende geluid geproduseer, en boonop suggereer die oogmerke op hul kloupote 'n veel groter dier.
Deutsch: Da weibliche Gottesanbeterinnen nicht flugfähig sind, versuchen sie oftmals, Angreifer wie z. B. insektenfressende Vögeln durch ihre Drohhaltung aus dem Konzept zu bringen. Dabei lassen sie durch Aneinanderreiben der Flügel ein zischendes Geräusch erklingen. Zusätzlich suggeriert die Augenzeichnung auf ihren Fangbeinen ein viel größeres Tier.
