English: Goveton: old bridge notice At first glance, one does not even notice that one is crossing a stream so the sign seems oddly placed. However, there is the stream, in someone's garden. The full text of the sign is:
Kingsbridge Rural District Council Take notice that this bridge or culvert is insufficient to carry weights beyond the ordinary traffic of the district and owners, drivers or other persons in charge of locomotives are hereby warned that they will be held responsible for any damage caused by attempting the passage of the bridge or culvert without consent of the District Surveyor. By order, William Beer, Clerk. Kingsbridge, July 1905 |
