Summary edit

Description
English: Graffiti, south porch, Avebury Manor, Avebury. There were several examples of ancient graffiti carved into the porch, which can be seen in this image 1024463 The house was built of a mix of sarsen and limestone. The porch looks as if is constructed from the latter. Sarsen is rather harder and it would have been correspondingly more difficult to inscribe.
