Description
500px provided description: A noisy picture but I still wanted to share it. Griesgletscher is one of those Alpine glaciers whose surface has almost entirely fallen below the snowline. This year, the surface of the glacier was nearly snow-free starting from early August. Without new snow to feed the glacier from the top, ice pulled down by gravity to lower elevations is condemned to disappear.
