Summary edit
DescriptionGray Hairstreak (22812238906).jpg |
The Gray Hairstreak has impressive eye spots and pretty legs and antennae. The two hairy tails can move helping to give the impression of being antenna. There are many different types of hairstreaks found around the world. I like the way this one is sticking the proboscis in through the side of the flower near the base where all the sweetness is located. Butterfly Milkweed attracts a wide variety of butterflies, bees, and other nectar loving insects. I have seen a number of predatory insects taking advantage of milkweed drawing power. Milkweed bugs and aphids along with caterpillars feed on the plant itself. The Orange blooms are quite pretty and keep popping up all summer long if the plant is kept watered. Tuberous roots can easily be transplanted. |
