Summary edit

Description
English: This block-long building once stretched along the south side of Jackson Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. It was built in 1899 by the Great Northern Railway for wholesale purposes and housed various meat packing companies, primarily Swift & Co. The building's hodgepodge appearance came from numerous reconstructions to accommodate it's industrial tenants. It was mostly demolished in 1945 with the remaining portions being used as storage for the adjacent Post Office terminal, after whose removal to larger facilities in SODO the entire block would be razed for a parking lot in 1956 and is now the site of King County Metro's headquarters building.
