Title
Greek & Roman Provincial Coin: Egyptian tetradrachm of Salonina
Description
English: A copper-alloy Egyptian tetradrachm of Salonina dating to the period AD 260 to 268. cf Milne p. 147, no. 1640. Obverse shows Draped bust right. Obverse legend reads KOPNHLIA CALWNEINA CEB. Apologies for the Greek transcription - can't get Greek characters here. Reverse shows Eagle standing, wing open left, wreath in beak; to right palm; to left LID. Die axis is 12 o'clock, weight is 10.21g, diameter is 22.30mm, thickness is 4.74mm.

Although probably a genuine issue, it is unlikely to be an ancient loss. This is likely to have been bought and then lost again which might explain why it was found on a busy town centre road.
