Brief von Franz Grillparzer an einen Hofrat; ohne Ort, 21. März 1854

"... Ich schicke hierbei die Memoiren des Herzogs von St. Simon zurück ohne sie gelesen zu haben. Ich habe sie bis jetzt liegen lassen, weil ich hoffe, daß mein Augenübel besser werde und mir das Lesen so kleinen Drucks möglich machen werde. Es ist nicht geschehen, und ich bitte daher mir die Fortsetzung dieser Memoiren nicht zukommen zu lassen ... Da ich übrigens trotz meiner leidenden Augen doch gerne lesen möchte, so führe ich hier Bücher auf, von denen ich weiß, daß sie größer und gut gedruckt sind ..."; danach Erwähnung der Namen Droysen, Müffling, Marwitz, Varnhagen u. a.
