Summary edit

Description
English: A U.S. Navy Grumman F8F-1 Bearcat of Fighter Squadron 7A (VF-7A) after landing aboard the aircraft carrier USS Leyte (CV-32), in 1947. VF-7A was assigned Carrier Air Group 7 (CVAG-7) aboard the Leyte for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea from 30 July to 19 November 1947.
At that time, it was common aboard U.S. Navy aircraft carriers to "decorate" aircraft of other carriers, that had to land aboard another carrier out of some reason. This particular aircraft probably had to land aboard USS Midway (CVB-41), as Midway, with assigned Carrier Air Group 1 (CVBG-1), was deployed to the Mediterranean Sea from 29 October 1947 to 11 March 1948.
