Description
English: Crewmen of the U.S. Navy destroyer USS Ellet (DD-398) look at the floating wreckage of a Japanese Navy Mitsubishi G4M Type 1 land attack plane (Allied code name "Betty"), which crashed during the aerial torpedo attack on the Allied invasion force off Tulagi Island on 8 August 1942. Surviving Japanese crewmen sat on the wings and had fired their pistols on the approaching destroyer before turning the weapons on themselves.
