Elle est souvent dépeinte comme une femme habillée de blanc, debout sur un lotus et parfois tenant un enfant en bas âge car elle aidait les femmes à avoir des enfants. C'est la forme chinoise de la divinité bouddhiste Avalokitesvara (Avalokiteshvara), un des bodhisattvas les plus vénérés qui a subi une féminisation. Elle aide tous les êtres de la terre à atteindre l'illumination |
